Henry Knox

                                        By J

Henry Knox was a plump bookseller in Boston in 1775.

Boston needed cannons to scare away the British.  So Henry Knox went to Fort Ticonderoga to retrieve the cannons that they had captured & bring them back…  300 miles in the winter!

On the way back to Boston, a barge carrying cannons started to sink, but they worked together to patch & bail & saved the boats & the cannons.  Then, one of the carts carrying cannons broke through the ice.  No one is sure how Henry Knox rescued the cannons.  I think he swam in the water.

After a long, hard 50 days, Henry Knox finally got all the cannons to Boston.  Not a single cannon was lost, & no one quit.

GO HENRY KNOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marquis de Lafayette: The Hero No One Knows

                                                           By B

Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert Marquis de Lafayette was born in 1757 to a rich family in France.  Both his parents died when he was young, so he was raised by his grandmother.
When he grew older, he learned about America and their fight for freedom.  He knew that the King of France would not let him go, so he snuck onto a ship and sailed to America.
There he met George Washington, and they became great friends.
Lafayette fought many battles in the Revolutionary War.  He was appointed major general.  In one battle, Lafayette got wounded.  George Washington told the doctor, "Take charge of him as if he were my own son, for I love him with the same affection."
Later, when Lafayette was older, he returned to America.  Everyone treated him like a hero!
When Lafayette died, he was buried in some American soil he had brought back from America.
     Lafayette was a true hero!

The people you hang out with

We believe it's true that you become like the people you hang out with.

As a family, our highest priority and greatest privilege is to hang out with Jesus, trusting that He will work in us to make us more like Him.

In pursuing our education, we have the great honor to "meet" amazing people, both real and fictional.  We have delighted in meeting the Ingalls family, Anne Shirley, Amos Fortune, Johnny Tremain, George Washington, John and Abigail Adams, and many others.  We've started this blog in order to introduce you to the great people we've come to know.  We hope you'll enjoy meeting them, too, and we hope that you'll see bits and pieces of what we've learned from them in both our writing and in our lives.
